GreasePod started with a simple frustration — the messy, inconvenient process of greasing a trailer hitch. What began as a small everyday problem quickly turned into an idea that could simplify towing for thousands of people.
THE PROBLEM
Greasing a Trailer Hitch Was Always a Mess
One day, I went to hook up my trailer and realized—again—I’d been putting off greasing the hitch.
The grease gun was always out, empty, or nowhere close when I needed it. Sometimes I just didn’t have the time, and other times I simply didn’t want to deal with the mess — especially on a cold or rainy day.
The moment that inspired the search for a cleaner solution.

The Idea Came From an Everyday Object
On the way to the garage I had to walk through the laundry room, and I imagined something like a laundry detergent pod — but instead of detergent, grease.
A pod you could place directly on the hitch ball, lower the trailer, and it pops — clean, pre-measured, easy, fast, and incredibly convenient.
Something small enough to keep in a glove box, toolbox, or center console.
Turning an Idea Into a Real Product
When I started researching the idea, I discovered that nothing like this existed on the market.
Friends who regularly used trailers agreed the idea made sense and encouraged me to pursue a patent.
After saving for about a year, I secured the patent and began testing different materials and designs.
From concept sketches to hands-on testing — building the first working prototypes.

Finding the Right Material
My first prototypes used plastic, which worked well — but after testing, I noticed small plastic fragments inside the trailer coupler.
That raised concerns about the locking mechanism.
The solution came from water-soluble paper.
As friction heats the grease, the material begins dissolving automatically, leaving only the lubrication exactly where it’s needed.
Grease Pod Was Born
After testing the right amount of grease and refining the design, the pod worked perfectly.
Not too little, not too much — just enough to lubricate the hitch exactly where friction occurs.
